Curcuma Turmeric Ginger in BahamaBrown

We use lots of great ingredients in our BahamaBrown products, and for lots of good reasons. We believe that by using the best active, organic ingredients, creates the best results for skin.

Here, we take a look at quite an exotic key ingredient – Curcuma (Turmeric or Temulawak and is a part of the Ginger family of medicinal plants).

We uncover why this ingredient is a superstar, and how it can help your skin look and feel great.

Curcuma has been used in medicine for over 4000 years. Also known as Turmeric and Temulawak, Curcuma is an effective anti-inflammatory and wound healer, and is used both orally and topically.

Recent research has also indicated that it could even reduce tumours.

The plant is related to turmeric, and is also a member of the ginger family. The curcuma we use in our BahamaBrown products is grown at altitudes of at least 1.5km above sea level.

In addition to treating digestive problems, curcuma is also good for arthritis, osteoarthritis, and the skin.

For the hair, curcuma is widely used to soothe the scalp and reduce dandruff and flaking.

One of the great things about curcuma that we love here at BahamaBrown, is its effectiveness as a skin care product. In fact, curcuma is widely used to treat eczema and irritating fungal infections that can cause redness, itching and dryness.

In many of these conditions, curcuma works by reducing inflammation and soothing the area, allowing the skin to heal and regenerate by itself.

In addition, curcuma helps reduce oiliness of the skin, which can often result in clogged pores and breakouts.

For those looking to maintain youthful-looking skin, curcuma works against many of the stresses our skin goes through each day, and contains lots of useful antioxidants to reduce lines and signs of ageing.

For those with sensitive skin, curcuma provides much-needed nourishment, and it’s also great for acne too. By reducing excess oil, breakouts can be prevented, and the anti-inflammatory qualities reduce scarring.

The sheer fact that curcuma has such deep cleaning properties, makes it ideal for use as a mask, usually combined with a number of other effective ingredients.

Curcuma is widely used to soothe burns, and even reduce the appearance of stretch marks. For this reason, we think everyone should be celebrating the power of curcuma!  At BahamaBrown we certainly do.
